2012 Olympic Superyacht Countdown

In less than a year’s time, London will open its arms to the world at the opening ceremony of the greatest show on earth: the 2012 Olympic Games. In London, there is likely to be strong demand for superyacht berthing facilities, so booking early is advised. Superyacht owners are expected to bring their vessels as close as possible to central London, although vessels cannot be moored within 1.5 miles of the Olympic site. Access will be easy from nearby moorings in Canary Wharf, Wood Wharf and the Royal Docks near City Airport and the Excel Centre. Outside London, sailing enthusiasts will be flocking to England’s beautiful south coast to enjoy the exciting sailing events in the open waters of Weymouth Bay and in Portland Harbour. This area has recently benefited from an upgrade of transport infrastructure, has convenient road and rail links from London, deep commercial waters and leisure moorings. Many nearby ports also have good bunkering facilities, where Maren can supply gas oil in bulk by truck: Southampton, Cowes, Plymouth, Portsmouth, Dartmouth, Falmouth to name but a few. Smaller vessels can take fuel at marinas in the delightful seaside towns of Eastbourne, Brighton, Gosport, Southampton, Brighton and Poole.
